The Armstrong Hotel was built in 1902 in Hondo Texas by Andrew Armstrong Jr. initially for the railroad workers and patrons. It is located on Highway 90 in the center of Hondo. It was later renovated adding 10 additional rooms to accommodate military personnel being stationed at the newly opened Hondo Air Force Base. It remained in the Armstrong Family until 1952 when Grace Armstrong sold it to a Polish refugee, John Kalinoski he was a survivor from a POW camp in Germany. Kalinoski was a former employee and friend to Grace. Kalinoski and his wife performed extensive renovations over the years to improve the condition and appearance of the hotel until they sold it in 1992. It is rumored that likes of John Wayne, and other famous people stayed at this landmark hotel. The hotel and other buildings are currently being used for retail stores. Seller Financing Available.
